Teacher Programs

SPICE offers free professional development for teachers throughout the year, including summer institutes for middle school and high school teachers, yearlong fellowships for high school and community college instructors, and half-day teacher professional development workshops that feature some of Stanford University’s top scholars in international affairs, history, and other areas of the social sciences.

Professional Development for Teachers (Middle School & High School)

We offer a free summer institute at Stanford University for middle school teachers, an online seminar for high school teachers, and a yearlong fellowship for secondary school teachers in Hawaii. All three programs focus on the teaching of East Asia. Participants learn from top scholars, engage in pedagogy-focused discussions with SPICE curriculum experts, receive free lesson plans, and qualify for three units of credit from Stanford Continuing Studies.
